CLARIFICATION REGARDING REGULARIZATION OF CONTRACT EMPLOYEES

Government of the Punjab, Services & General Administration Department (Regulations / O&M Wing) issued a letter regarding Regularization of Contract Employees.

I am directed to refer to your letter No.E&A(S&GAD)12(316)/06-C dated 28.09.2018, on the subject noted above.

The case has been examined by Regulations Wing. S&GAD and it is observed that:-

• Query No.1:- Whether the Act ibid is applicable only for one time for those employees who have continuously been serving for a period not less than four years (04) on commencement of this Act or otherwise.
• Reply:- Only those contractees are covered under the Punjab Regularization of Service Act 2018 who have continuously completed four years service on commencement date of the Act i.e. 30.04.2018 as per advice of the Law Department.

• Query No.2:- What will be the status of the other contract employees who have completed four years (04) of service after implementation of Act ibid. Whether these employees can also be regularized under this Act or not.
• Reply:- Those contract employees who have completed four years of service after commencement of the Act ibid are not covered under the Act ibid.

Administrative Department may move ahead accordingly.
